Job Summary:

Responsible for performing front line firefighting.  Assists in the maintenance of the equipment and apparatus, and supports the Captain in additional duties.

Job Duties:

  1. Responds to emergencies.  While acting as Engineer, drives and maneuvers fire apparatus safely and effectively.  Operates a variety of fire pumps, calculating and setting the appropriate operating pressures.  Performs hose evolutions and controls fire with a variety of suppression agents.  Recognizes hazardous conditions, such as back draft, presence of harmful contaminants, and possible structural collapse; and takes appropriate action to assure the safety of firefighters and public. Performs as lead medical provider.
  2. Performs preventative maintenance inspections of apparatus and equipment.  Maintains maintenance records of apparatus and equipment.
  3. Performs periodic tests of hydrants, fire pumps, fire hose and other equipment.
  4. Trains other staff in medical policies and procedures.
  5. Participates in the inspection of residences and business properties for possible safety hazards.
  6. Cleans and maintains the stations, grounds and other equipment.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Possess a minimum qualification IFSAC certification as Firefighter II level
  3. Possess a minimum qualification certificate as EMT-Paramedic
  4. Experience with Haz-Mat operations
  5. Possess a valid State of Minnesota driver's license.
  6. Must satisfactorily perform the department daily physical fitness requirements.
  7. Must be able to lift 150 lbs.
  8. Exposure to fumes / excessive temperatures.
