Job Description



Job Summary:

Researches, analyzes, maintains, and supports Health Information Systems and applications. Provides Tier II production support for end-users of the system, including: training, responding to questions, and resolving problems. Develops new and/or customize existing templates and reports to meet end user needs.



Job Duties:

  1. Researches, analyzes, maintains and supports Electronic Health record (EHR) systems applications, Electronic Dental Record (EDR) system applications, Medical Interfaces (lab, medical devices) and Medical Documentation for scanning. Provides technical analysis, issue resolution, enhancements, and modifications to meet the needs of the clinic. Develops new and/or customize existing templates and documents as part of improving workflow, simplifying charting, facilitating upgrades, and fixing bugs or design flaws in the application's delivered components.
  2. Troubleshoots application issues in a timely manner. Communicates with end users as well as software vendor support regarding application issue resolution. Provides Level II escalation support of incidents and problems.
  3. Provides EHR applications training for new employees as well as training for existing employees regarding updates, upgrades, or enhancements. Creates end user training packets.
  4. Researches new application capabilities, updates, and upgrades on existing applications to provide technical support and to assist with installation, testing, and training. Assists with application upgrades and patch releases to include: learning about the features and details of new releases; reapplying modifications to delivered templates, documents and reports; performing preliminary testing and validation of releases; planning rollout schedules. Assists with interface setup and support as required.
  5. Recommends modifications to application to improve clinic workflow, efficiency, and productivity of clinic staff. Works closely with providers, nurses, lab staff, etc to identify short-comings in the product or workflow issues, to implement changes, and to support/re-apply the changes during upgrades.
  6. Creates and monitors clinical data reports from EHR applications as needed and as requested.
  7. Develops and maintains procedures to ensure the integrity, security, and availability of EHR databases.
  8. Complies with HIPAA rules and maintains all patient information confidentially and securely.

Job Requirements

  1. Any combination of post-secondary education in Business, Information Technology or related IT field and experience with technical support of medical applications to equal 4 years.
  2. Must complete required NextGen EHR training within six months of hire.
  3. Must complete required NextGen ICS, EDR, and EPM training within one year of hire.
  4. Good computer skills to include but not limited to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint.
  5. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Must hold and maintain Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. If not CPR certified upon hire, must obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
